The Stone of Nobility

History:

Revered in many cultures throughout history, Ruby has always been a talisman of passion, protection, and prosperity. It was worn as an amulet or charm to ward off plague and pestilence, warned its wearer of impending danger, kept the body safe, and banished sadness. Ruby symbolizes the sun, and its glowing hue suggests an inextinguishable flame. Ruby was also known to bring its owner peace, drive away nightmares, restrain lust, and help resolve arguments. In Burmese legend, inserting a Ruby into one’s flesh could make them invulnerable.

Ruby emanates the pure red ray with a vibrancy unsurpassed in the mineral kingdom. It actively stimulates the Base—or Root—Chakra, aka Muladhara, increasing vitality and life-force energy throughout the body and spirit. It promotes a clear mind, increased concentration and motivation. Ruby brings a self-confidence vibe that can overcome shyness. Ruby initiates the sensual pleasures of life. Ruby may be used to activate the kundalini, and has always been associated with love.

Natural Ruby is one of four precious gemstones that is known for its rarity, monetary value, and hardness (which ruby is second only to Diamonds.) Ruby is red Corundum, and aluminum oxide mineral with chromium which is responsible for its rich red colour. The name comes from the Latin word rubeus, meaning “red.”

Purposes:

Wear or carry Ruby to overcome exhaustion. It stimulates circulation, and amplifies energy and vitality to the whole system. But, it can be over-stimulating to some who are highly sensitive. Ruby has also been down to calm hyperactivity in some. Ruby is also an aphrodisiac, allowing one to experience all forms of love. It deepens a couple’s relationship and encourages closeness and commitment. It is also the stone of courtly love, and may honour admiration from a distance.

Ruby’s intense energy sharpness the mind, bringing a heightened awareness, and awesome concentration. It promotes a courageous attitude. It also helps reduce fear of the paranormal and the evil. It banishes nightmares, and guards against psychic and psychological attack. It is a shielding crystal, protecting the home from fire and intruders, and is good to wear discreetly to stay safe at night.

Physical Healing:

Ruby is considered a blood stone, strengthening the heart, myocardium, ventricles, and coronaries. It also stimulates good circulation and blood flow. Ruby can also be an aid in treating disorders or diseases of the heart. Ruby assists in regulating periods, and calming the pain associated with menstruation.

It is considered beneficial for the reproductive organs, and is often used to for treatment of sexual dysfunction, impotence and infertility. Ruby also helps in early menopause, and as a support for gynecological operations. It is believed to be helpful during pregnancy, especially for older women.

Ruby is useful in detoxifying the body, blood, and lymph. It is even helpful in treating fever and infections. It energizes the adrenals, kidneys, and spleen. Ruby can also aid inadequate circulation or energy flow in the feet and legs. Ruby can be used to assist in weight regulation—especially when emotional eating is a cause.

Emotional and Chakra Healing:

Ruby allows the sharing of loving energy despite past hurts, bringing up anger or negative energy for transmutation. It gives strength to rise from persecution, and choose whether or not to dwell in anguish. Ruby encourages a positive and courageous mind set, and brings out the protective aspects of one’s character. Ruby also sustains and protects those with sensitive natures. It overcomes fears of being ugly or unloved, and is super empowering for those who hold excess weight in the body in order to ground in the physical world.

Ruby is great for your Root Chakra—or Muladhara—stimulating the flow of life-force energy aka chi through the body. It strengthens the ability to meet one’s needs, and manifest one’s desires. It is powerful in activating the kundalini.

The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine, and controls the energy for kinesthetic feeling and movement. It is the foundation of the physical and spiritual energy for the body. When out of balance physically, the symptoms will manifest themselves as lethargy, low levels of activity, low enthusiasm, and a need for constant stimulation. When spiritually out of balance, one will feel flighty, disconnected from reality, and distant.

Spiritual Energy:

Ruby signifies light to the darkness in one’s life. It encourages following your bliss, teaching one to enjoy being in the physical world, and perceiving the spiritual energy that exists throughout the realm of matter. Ruby gives lessons in mastering the transformation of thought and intent into physical manifestation in order to change one’s world.

Ruby assists in connecting one’s energy field to the Earth for the purpose of replenishing one’s energy stores. It is awesome for grounding and overcoming mental overload. Ruby is great during times of stress.

Colour Energy:

Ruby brings red, the colour of self-confidence build on fearlessness, a call to action. It raises our enthusiasm and speeds up our metabolism. Red also reflects the colour of passion, energy, and life. It motivates. Red is a very strong colour—the colour of fire and blood. Dark red crystals embody strong, deep feelings, durable energy, and quiet passion.

Meditation:

Ruby is a stone that is not often used for meditation. Most find it is just to invigorating to be effective in a meditation ritual.

The Stone of Protection

Tiger’s Eye is a stone of protection, which may also bring good luck to the wearer as it was traditionally carried as an amulet against ill wishes and curses. It focuses the mind, promoting mental clarity, and assists us to resolve problems objectively and unclouded by emotions. Tiger’s Eye is useful for healing psychosomatic illnesses, dispelling fear and anxiety. It is useful for recognising one’s own needs in relation to the needs of others. Balancing yin-yang and energizing the emotional body, Tiger’s Eye stabilizes mood swings, instills us with willpower, purpose, courage, and self-confidence. It can also relieve tension, and give us the correct use of power.

Tiger’s Eye treats the eyes, throat, and reproductive organs. It releases toxins, alleviates pain, and is helpful in repairing broken bones. It strengthens the alignment of the spinal column.

Tiger’s Eye Balances the Sacral Chakra—The Second Chakra or Svadhishthana—and the Solar Plexus Chakra—The Third Chakra or Manipura—and is of the Element Fire and Earth.

The Sacral Chakra is located below the navel and above the pubic bone. It controls the flow of energy and is the centre of gravity of the body. It is the centre of the Life Force, and controls the flow of information from the body to the mind and from the mind to the body. Gut feelings, intuition, and other “non-linear” communication come from this Chakra. When it is in balance, you have grace, feel pleasure in life, find you are flexible and can “go with the flow,” and do so in good spirit.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is the energy distribution centre and the chakra of relationships. It is located between the rib cage and navel, and controls the immune and digestive systems. When in balance, you have strength to fight infections, are free of allergic reactions, and are able to use the nutrients you ingest. It allows you the freedom to see the world through your own thoughts and emotions.

Meditating with this stone can help calm those who have trouble with settling down and quieting the mind

In addition to the Golden Tiger’s Eye, there is the Blue Tiger’s Eye or Hawk’s Eye, and the Red Tiger’s Eye or Dragon’s Eye. Each have their own properties and Chakras.

Hawk’s Eye stimulates the Throat Chakra—The Fifth Chakra or Vishuddha—and is of the Element Air. It is a calming stone as it relieves stress. It aids the quick-tempered, overanxious and phobic. It slows the metabolism, cools an overactive sex drive, and dissolves sexual frustrations.

Dragon’s Eye stimulates the Root Chakra—The First Chakra or Muladhara—and is of the Element Fire. It overcomes lethargy, and provides motivation. It speeds up a slow metabolism, and increases a low sex drive.
